Walking into eye-bar Optometrists, Opticians & Eyewear Specialists, you might think you've mistakenly entered a hip wine bar instead of an eyewear store. “It’s like being served at a bar. The idea was that we provide people with suggestions,” says co-owner Dr. Amy Bakelaar. “We thought it would make it a little more fun.”

Dr. Bakelaar and her business partner, Dr. Ross McKenzie, opened eye-bar Optometrists, Opticians & Eyewear Specialists with the belief that vision care can be related to lifestyle. They wanted to push their customers to think outside the box. “If you have a fun atmosphere, people are more willing to share what they need and how they feel about their look,” says Amy. “When we enjoy our jobs, we can serve our patients better because they are more open and more excited to try something new and take some risks.”
