We welcome parental feedback and encourage parents to inform us of ways we can serve them best. Families are invited to participate in a formal program review annually. We strive to create an atmosphere in which families and children we care for feel at home.
Her love for making children happy was all Saba Alam needed to start her day-home in the early 2000s. “It makes me happy to see children happy, and I really love helping them grow and learn. My friends started talking about my day-home and I eventually had to turn away children,” Saba says. “So I started working towards making a daycare because day-homes can only be licensed for six children.”
When Saba did find the right location for Strathcona Tender Loving Daycare, she began working towards building a great place for children to learn and grow. Opened in 2012, the daycare has expanded its services to look after 115 children on two floors.
“We installed fire shutters for safety, water lines in every room and different rooms for the children,” Saba says. “This building used to be an office, so it needed work. We also built in air conditioning for those hotter summer days. Children need sunlight to grow, but on the hotter days, they need a cooler place to play.”
