Montreal is a vibrant city for tourists thanks to its nightlife and city attractions, so it’s no surprise that there are many hotels around the city. Many of these hotels are an experience on their own and host their own food and nightlife scenes. Whether you are in town for a few days, or a local Montrealer, grab a drink at one of these hotel bars.
Kick back and relax with one of their cool cocktails or martinis with your friends. Suite 701, in the Place d’Armes hotel, is great place for a date, especially on the rooftop terrace, or for a posh evening with your girlfriends. The ambiance is upscale, but friendly, and the bartenders are eager to impress.
If you’re looking for a different kind of bar, or to start the evening off on a high note, head to Sarah B. inside the Intercontinental Hotel. Sarah B. is an absinthe bar with a friendly-chic ambiance. The staff is knowledgeable and will guide you through this unique experience, whether you’re seasoned in the art of absinthe or you’re a welcome beginner. This place is great for a cool date or an intimate evening.
Wine and dine in one of Montreal's historical landmarks - the Auberge Saint-Gabriel was the first tavern in North America to receive a liquor license back in 1754. You'll immediately be charmed by the old stone walls and large wooden beams, which give the restaurant a rustic vibe with a slightly modern twist. Enjoy fine French fare, along with an exquisite selection of wines.
Located on Jeanne-Mance, Six Resto Louge in the Hyatt Regency, offers one of the best views of the Quartier des Spectacles. Take in the ambiance of all of Montreal's festivals from the chic rooftop terrace, in the middle of the action, while you sip on one of their signature cocktails. The restaurant is a perfect place to grab a bite before a show at Place des Arts.
AAA beef meets AAA atmosphere. Méchant Boeuf boasts a trendy friendly vibe and a pretty mean burger, thus the name. They also offer a wide variety of beers, including their own house beer, and artisanal cocktails. This place is really happening during their “Méchants 5 à 7” Thursday through Saturday, where they have specials on drinks and finger foods, and local rock bands play a few tunes. Reservations are a must.
There’s a special upscale feel at the Plateau Lounge inside the W Hotel, almost Vegas-like. It’s a great place to grab a drink on your way out, or on your way back in to the hotel at the end of the night. There’s a wide cocktail selection and the seating area is relaxed and comfortable. Not enough action at the lounge? Head to one of the other three bars at the W, including the Wunderbar nightclub.
