"I see what I do as a form of art," says George Laganas, owner of Ellas Meat Market. "When I'm doing a special cut of meat like a lamb or pork crown, I take a lot of pride in it." A family business established in 1979, George learned the trade from dad, Theodoros, otherwise known as 'The Master' amongst the guys at the shop. They all have nicknames for one another that reflect both their roles at the meat market and their personalities. "I'm known as the one who talks too much," grins George. “I can't help it. I'm a really social person and love meeting new people."
The nicknames are all part of the fun vibe at Ellas Meat Market, which is underscored by a very hard work ethic and a commitment to quality. Here you'll find veal, beef, pork, lamb and turkey plus a range of frozen goods and olive oils.

We went in to purchase a cut of pork for a family occasion and were blown away by the service at this family owned butcher. The butcher was knowledgeable, friendly, and more than willing to spend the time with us to explain the meats they carry and prepare the cuts for us, even a few minutes before closing time. We went in for the one reason and walked out with delicious lamb, and incredible cheese, all at very competitive prices. Even living in the North East side of Toronto, we will be making this one of our regular stops. Fantastic experience and delicious lamb kabobs for dinner :)
