Richard came out and gave me a quote on my chimney repair during the previous Fall. Due to the early arrival of winter, Richard and I decided to wait until Spring so the work could be completed properly. Once Spring came, Richard and Lynda called me to schedule the work. Again the weather did not cooperate and the job had to be rescheduled a couple of times. At no time did I have to do any follow-up as they kept me in the loop about any changes. Richard refused to do a rush job in poor conditions just to get the work done. When the big day finally arrived Richard and his crew showed up as promised. They were all friendly, professional and the work was completed as promised. My house has two colours of bricks and Richard did a great job of finding the right match. After the work was completed, the cleanup was done and other than the new bricks, there was no indication anyone had ever even been here. I would definitely recommend E&R Schwarz Masonry Ltd. to anyone who wants to be dealt with in a fair and professional manner. Great job guys!!!

Beautiful Window Sill Work
When we bought our house a few years ago, the inspector noted the brick sill on our bay window was being damaged by rain. We finally got around to fixing it and it was in bad shape.
Right from the estimate, we could see E&R Schwarz were experts. Richard noticed and demonstrated surrounding brick damage that others didn't, provided direct advice on how to best fix it, including inexpensive improvements over standard builder work, gave the rationale for his advice, answered all our questions, and left a detailed estimate.
The bay window also needed replacing. Richard provided the extra nudge we needed to do that as well and advised on how to coordinate both jobs. When we finally got back to his wife Lynda after lining up a Windows installer, they managed to fit us in at the end of the season, with Richard and his crew doing the job in half a day.
We now have a new bay window but are most proud of the new concrete sill and surrounding brickwork.

Chimney replacement
We weren't happy about having to replace our chinney, but Richard was professional and thorough from the start of the job to the finish which certainly helped. He found bricks to match our house, helped us redesign the chimney to discourage the water leakage, and discussed all aspects of the work as he went along. He and his team showed up on time every morning, were polite and respectful of our property, and worked exceedingly hard in hot weather all day long. Some bricks were carefully removed and saved for us to use on another project, which was environmentally friendly. We were invited up on the scaffolding to peer down into the chimney (very interesting to see a different view). Richard noticed some cracked bricks beside the front door, and replaced those as well. The work was done in less time than estimated, looks great, and we will not hesitate to call E&R Schwarz again - thanks Richard, Dad, team, and Linda!

Re-pointing bricks
We live in an older home and the bricks needed to be re-pointed as the mortar was deteriorating rapidly. We called E & R Schwarz Masonry and Richard responded quickly even though it was late in the season. After looking at our bricks he gave us a comprehensive outline of the work that needed to be done and guaranteed the price despite the work having to be done in the next season. Richard and Linda communicated with us early the next season as to when the work would be completed and were flexible in working around the demolition of our street. We were away on vacation when the work was completed and upon our return we were very pleased with the finished product. Richard matched our mortar exactly, the job site was clean and he even found a few places on our front porch that needed some attention because he had some extra time. We are very impressed with Richard and his crew and will have them take down our chimney when the time comes.
We could tell before our job even started that we had picked the right company for this job.
Richard's level of attention to detail was evident as he dropped off brick samples for us to look at, sourced alternative brick colours, and communicated clearly about start times and what the job would require.
On the day of the job, he showed up when he said he would, did excellent work and left our yard as as clean as it was before he started.
